Living in Whispering Pines

Moore County, North Carolina

What it's really like to live in Whispering Pines: lakefront homes, golf-course streets and quiet wooded neighborhoods, plus what to check before you buy.

hello!

Whispering Pines is the kind of place where you wave at your neighbors from the dock. Just north of Southern Pines, it's a quiet village built around a string of lakes and two golf courses, with tall pines everywhere you look. It's close enough to Southern Pines and Carthage for errands and far enough to feel tucked away. Whether you're dreaming of morning coffee on the water, a home on the fairway or a wooded lot with room to spread out, here's how I'd describe each part of the village to a friend.

I'm Lex Fowler, a REALTOR® with The Foundry Group at Compass, and I'd love to show you around Whispering Pines.

Whispering Pines Neighborhoods

Every home is different, but each part of the village has its own feel. Here's a quick overview to help you narrow things down before we tour.

Lakefront homes

Homes along Thagards Lake and the village's smaller lakes, many with docks and water views.

Good fit if: you want to fish, paddle or boat from your own backyard.

Keep in mind: we'll look at docks, bulkheads, flood zones and the Village's lake rules before you make an offer.

Golf-course homes

Streets along the River and Pines courses near the clubhouse.

Good fit if: you want fairway views and a club close by.

Keep in mind: we'll confirm any club membership options and costs as part of your decision.

Wooded in-village streets

Quiet streets throughout the village with mature pines and a mix of ranches and two-story homes.

Good fit if: you want a peaceful street and a short drive to everything.

Keep in mind: home ages vary a lot, so a thorough inspection matters.

Newer homes nearby

Newer subdivisions in and around the village as more people discover the area.

Good fit if: you want a newer home in a quiet setting.

Keep in mind: growth is a regular topic at Village meetings, so I'll check what's planned near any home you love.

Let's find your spot on the water

Michigan was home first, but college brought me to the Carolinas and I never wanted to leave. When the military brought my husband, Max, and me to Southern Pines, what we thought was a temporary stop became the destination. Every move has taught me the house is only part of the decision. The neighborhood, the commute and the lifestyle matter just as much.

Before real estate, I spent eight years in public health and research, including time with the VA, where accuracy and deadlines were nonnegotiable. I bring that same discipline to every contract and closing, with The Foundry Group and Compass behind you.

Is lake life as good as it looks? Let's go see it from the dock!
